We write to you as shareholders of WestJet to express our outrage and frustration at the recent scandal regarding allegations of repeated sexual assault of WestJet employees by other WestJet employees, and collusion on the part of WestJet management to retain the assailants and dismiss their victims. The charges that WestJet enabled serial sexual assault by pilots damages the brand of our company and harms the long-term value of our investments in its shares.
We call on you as Chair of the Board and Chair of the Committee charged with ensuring compliance with WestJet’s safety, health and environmental principles to take immediate action and replace CEO Gregg Saretsky. It is unacceptable that while victims of sexual assault continue to come forward, and allegations that WestJet’s Business Code of Conduct was disregarded with impunity continue to mount, that Mr. Saretsky continues to lead our company.
WestJet shareholders are counting on the company to take drastic action to recover its reputation and restore the faith of customers and investors in a positive corporate culture and a brand that will generate value for long-term shareholders. Thank you for your attention and we look forward to your response.
