We’re still celebrating the EU’s ban on bee-killing neonicotinoid pesticides (neonics), passed earlier this year thanks to the efforts of environmental activists, beekeepers and SumOfUs members like you.
But of course, upholding the ban was never going to “bee” that easy. Industry lobbyists have already begun clamoring for exceptions -- and thanks to a loophole in EU regulation called ‘emergency authorisations’, they could wreck all the gains that we made.
The EU Commission is meeting with member state representatives tomorrow to discuss unjustified exemptions -- but so far it doesn’t look like they are planning steps to fix the loophole.
That’s where you and I come in: Together we can get the word out, that the neonics ban is hanging on by a thread -- and show the European Commission that people across Europe won’t let them ignore this bee-killing loophole any longer.
Can you help us make it count by adding your voice?
